Paquette, Charlotte: 1970

Charlotte Paquette, a baby just six months old, was beaten to death by her stepfather. She was admitted to Mercy Hospital in Altoona on a Saturday, january31, 1970, in critical condition; she was cyanotic, blue in color, and had no respiration or heartbeat. Edmund Paquette was charged with aggravated assault and battery, and released on $2000 bond. As her life functions returned, she showed signs of bruising on her forehead and chin. She died on Wednesday, February 3, of a cranial hemorrhage in Mercy Hospital, Pittsburgh. Edmund Paquette, her 21-year-old stepfather, was arrested and charged with murder; he was taken to Blair County jail without bail.

Edmund Joseph Paquette’s sentence was confirmed on March 16, 1973, by the Pennsylvania State Supreme Court.
