Rainelli, Barbara: 1975
Barbara Rainelli, 25, was stabbed to death by her husband, David Rainell, 25, of Altoona on July 15, 1975. Her body was found on the back porch on her home. The young woman had been stabbed multiple times in the throat, and there was a trail of blood leading to Rainelli inside the house, on the third floor. He was reported to have cut his right wrist in an apparent suicide attempt. Rainelli was taken to Altoona Hospital in fair condition and under police guard.
Rainell was ordered to Blair County Prison without bail by DJ Bernard Zeigler. At Rainelli’s trial in November of 1975, he pleaded guilty to third degree murder. Judge Paul Foreman heard three house of testimony, and accepted the guilty plea. Rainelli was sentenced to5 to 20 years in the Huntingdon State Correctional Institute.
